This tour is an unique opportunity to discover the secrets of the local Gastronomy and Enology, which are considered art all by themselves… but also generated other kind of artistic manifestations that fill the houses of the Portuguese people and can be found today all over the world: handicraft, crockery, porcelain and crystal glassware!

We will leave Coimbra in the morning, towards the delimited region of Bairrada. This area is rich among those that produce white and red wines, made from traditional castes like the abundant Baga, as well as others which have been imported and introduced on Portuguese soils, like the international Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sparkling Wine of Bairrada have also been gaining a great notoriety, materialized in a variety of international prizes as well as a constant presence at the tables of local restaurants, along with the typical roasted suckling pig.

Our panoramic route will go through the region's vineyards on its way to Caves Aliança – Underground Museum! During the visit the connection between gastronomy, enology and art with become clear! A tour that will open your appetite since we will giving you the opportunity to have 1h free for lunch at one of the local restaurants and there you’ll be able to enjoy a real “table of Bairrada”.

After this strategic stop for lunch we will be heading to the oldest Porcelain Factory of the Iberian Peninsula, founded in 1824: Vista Alegre. Here you can learn all about the production process of porcelain, and observe the work by the artists who produce these pieces that will then be sold all over the world: Vista Alegre produces approximately 10 million units per year! If you do this tour on a week day, it will be possible for us to take you to their workshop so you can see them painting live!

Before we head back to Coimbra, you’ll be given free time in Vista Alegre’s and Bordalo Pinheiro shops so you can take a gift home!
